"STOP!!!!!" Aubrey shouted. "They are the enemy not us!" she glared at heather her armor almost blending in with her pelt but onl to the shapeshifters you could see it. "Join us in our crusade?"

Desiree stopped, growling still. "What crusade? I'm just looking for a boy... My tracker seems to have run off though. You scared him...." Her tail flicked with annoyance.

Desiree didn't like the idea. "They have as much right to live as we do. Killing all of them, that would sink us down to their level." She stated in a voice that refused argue. "All you're battles will do, is spark more hatred and battle. Next they will come at us with guns, tanks, poisons, bioweapons. Find peace, not battle."

Desiree then stalked away, having to track the boy herself. She moved through the trees, and spotted him. She had remembered his appearance and bounded over. "ARE YOU KEITH!" She asked him.

Keith swung around. Echo barked viciously and stood by Keith protectively. "I-uh. Why?"

Desiree smiled, turning human. Her red hair was in a desperate need of a wash. "A girl, Jessie....? She's been crying for you for hours, maybe even days." She said quickly.

Jessie's heart stopped, her blue eyes remaining on her right knee, unresponsive. "Jessie..." The doctor repeated, a thick layer of regret in his voice. "I'm sorry.... but you've been partically paralized... You can't move your entire right leg, and you.... won't be able to ever again...." Tears welled in her eyes, bursting forth in silent sobs. "I'm sorry, the sword did far to much damage to your hipbone and the portion of your pelvis that it connects to...." A hand laid down on her shoulder, a nurse's. "You.... will never be able to walk again."

Keith raised an eyebrow and Echo gave a low growl. Keith's black eye hurt and he still couldn't see out of it. He sighed "Okay I'll go back"

Desiree smiled, nodding her head. "Great!" She turned around. "Its this way!" She turned tigon and sprinted in the direction of the village.

As the trees receeded to reveal the damaged section of the village, Desiree was mobbed by Esmerelda. "DESIREE!" She mewled, tackling the tigon. "WHY WERE YOU GONE SO LONG?" She cried out. Desiree sighed. "She's should still be in the hospital!" She yelled to Keith.

He nodded and turned back human. He looked down at Echo and echo jumped into his arms. Keith buried his face in Echo's fur the set him down and patted him. He walked to the hospital and the nurse looked at him disgustingly. His eye was oozing and he was covered in mud. "Right this way" Keith pulled his arm from the lady. "Im not here for the black eye, where is Jessie" The nurse looked at him then nodded. "Aww I see" She said and lead him to her room. He stepped into the room with Echo at his side.

Jessie's fist clentched, gripping the hospital sheets. Tears splattering down onto it, making it a dark grey. Her body racked with the tears and convulsions, but no sound came. She refused to cry aloud. Her ears twitched, and she snapped her head up. "Keith...." She whispered, her eyes wide and red. Her bottom lip quivered, and her arms were shaking.

"She will die like the rest who believe what she says!" Heather hissed standing sideways watching her leave blood trickling down her face and walked back to the village to see Keith and Jessie. "OH MY GOD! Jessie what happend?" Aubrey ran over to where they were.

She numbly reached out for him, only to recoil in fear. She head her face behind her blonde hair. She was still shaking, the tears still flowing. "Keith.... If somethign was terribly wrong with me.... would you still like me?"

Jessie shook harder, tearing at the sheets in her hands. She pulled them back then, on her right. Then Jessie pulled up the corner of her gown, revealing her hip, a large scar on it. It was from the sword. "I... I can't walk anymore... I'm paralized in my leg..." She dropped the gown, and pulled the sheets back up.

Then the noise came. She bursted into tears, screaming at her injustice, her face buried in a pillow. She curled and uncurled her fingers. After a minute or two she looked at them. "I.... I also.... I can't change right anymore...." She whispered. "My leg is limp then, and its... painful to change...."

"Oh Jessie im sorry i didnt mean to hurt your feelings!" Aubrey sat on the end of the bed feeling bad just as Deablo waddled in as a badger dropped a bottle of something and left. Aubrey picked it up and looked at it then put a little on heathers cut and it healed at once.

"Its..." Jessie gasped between body racking sobs. "Its alright... *sob* I know you didn't.... *sob* mean to.... *Sob*" Sheclosed her eyes tightly and moved her left leg. She had ment to curl up into a ball, but without her right leg responding.... More tears came.

Keith closed his good eye and tried to imagine him in Jessie's place. "Jessie doctors aren't always right, you might still be able to walk if you went through a lot of painful rehabilitation and exercises, but that's up to you. I just want you to know I will always be there by your side." He said as Echo jumped unto Jessie's bed and sat by her.

Jessie looked up at the two, weakly. Then at Echo. "Who's this?" She tried to laugh. "I've never seen you around before."
