Raffiel blinked. "Lunar says so. But she also says my father is the one that told her so. I don't trust that wolf. He disowned me, right to my face, and in front of Khora and my mother. And do you want to know what words he used?" He growled in anger as he thought of Xavier.

"He yelled at me, saying I was a failure and that I'd fallen so far. Demanding to know why I was who I was and then saying I was to leave them. My birth parents. But he saved the best for last. He said I wasn't his son." Raffiel growled. "I ws six months old at the time."

Belle seemed to ponder this for a while. She then spoke again, "A lot of times, things others say that are hurtful such as this is derived from pain. Something else other than you could have caused him to say such things to you." She paused to let this sink in then continued, "I honestly think that, deep down, he might just love you, whether he is willing to admit so or not." She paused again.

Raffiel looked at her with confused eyes. "If he loved me so much, then why did he disown me? Why do I always feel a hate towards me when I've actually seen or talked to him after that?" He asked, looking down with pain.

"For all you know, when he did that, there could have been something else going on to cause him to do so. It's just like a chain reaction." Belle replied simply. "Tell me, have you talked to him since that incident at all?"

"Once, and that was right after the incident. But I dont' remember much from that. I think... I think he helped me." Raffiel admitted.

"Terrible. My parents always fought, and they even got so far as to actually attack the other. I... I had two siblings, but they died. My sister got caught in the crossfire of one of their more violent battles. My brother... He ran away first, only to get caught by a bear ten feet from the den. But they didn't care... Not one bit." Raffiel lowered his head, grief sweeping over him.

Belle thought about this for a second. It was all starting to make sense now, however she still needed more information. "What makes you think that they didn't care that your siblings died?" she asked curiously.

"Not once did they do anyhting to bury them, or give them what they deserved. An honorable, respectful burial. No instead they let the bear garble down my brother and let the limp body of my sister fade into the void. They threw her body out and let the scavengers have at her afterwards." Raffiel snarled, claws digging into the soft muddy ground beneath him.

"I am truly sorry to hear that." Belle said sincerely. "However, I still think that your father's supposed "hate" towards you isn't directly related to you at all. I think it is derived from your parents constant fights and arguments." Bell said simply.

Raffiel shook his head. "No... I thought that to... until we met again. They'd stopped fighting. After all it'd been months after I'd run away. So they could have very easily split apart. In fact I've always thought the reason they didn't at first was because of us... My siblings."

"I-I'm sorry Raffiel." Belle lowered her gaze. She sighed. "To be honest, I still think your father was telling the truth. I don't think that you would have been oblivious to a bull running up on you. It just isn't in your character." She shook her head. "I don't know..."

Raffiel looked at her, and then padded closer. "Belle. I've never told anyone all that. I've told Khora about my relationship with my father. She was there for it all. But I didn't tell her about what I think happened with Erebus. Lunar's the one who told me that its what happened... I'm just so confused right now. But you're the first person I've told the whole thing to..." he admitted.

Belle was a bit shocked at this at first. Her immidiate response to these kinds of things were to go into protective mode, but she pushed that away. "Well, why not?" she asked truly confused. "I mean why me? Why not Lunar?"

Raffiel stumbled for the right words. "I... I trust you... That's why." He said, plainly and without any doubt. "Its because I trust you Belle. I don't know why. But I trust you. I know I'd never be able to tell Khora about Erebus unless he does something again. But she might as well be in love with him. Blaze, my adoptive dad, is NEVER around anymore. I haven't seen him in months. He just up and vanishes, and occasionally will show up. We've been patient, but there is a limit. Then Lunar, she's can judge. I mean really judge. And like she'd ever understand. I didn't want to talk about it with her, no at all! And... I don't know, maybe because you're new, and you've obviously got some problems, or something in your past. I just feel... like I can trust you."

Belle understood. She nodded her head. "I trust you too. Otherwise I wouldn't have ever talked to you about anything. I would have just put on a "protective cloak" so to say." She stood up. "So what do you say we head back to the den?"

A smile crossed his face. "About now?" He suggested, feeling like a weight was off of his chest.

"Absolutely." Belle replied, smiling as well. She couldn't help it. Other than Echo, Raffiel is the only wolf who has ever made her smile, and the third wolf who she had ever given her complete trust to. "So, Raffy, want to make it a race?" she challenged.

"Pshh." He laughed. "That wouldn't be fair little miss Belle. I'd beat you and come back before you'd make it past that tree." He gestured with his tail at the oak ten feet away.

"Oh really," she said now FEELING challenged. "I think I could beat you there come back twice over, and lap around that tree each time before you could even get past that." She indicated towards a flower not 3 feet away from where they were standing.

Raffiel grinned, lowering his head and getting ready for a sprint. The den was a fair ways away, so he knew he'd do good. Truth was he lacked speed, like most other wolves in the pack had, but he had the stamina to make it there without stopping once. "Ready?"
