Sce watched the door intently. She could hear loud foot falls in the corridor. She grabbed the dagger off the trim above her door. As the small boy approched she gripped the handel tighter. A knock came. She opened the door to see the small boy. She placed the dagger back and asked him what he wanted.

Sam glanced around silently at her surroundings, twisting a string through her fingers as habit. She was sitting on her bed in her small room, waiting for any orders.

Pantera is sitting in her chambers. "Dang. We are behind the other clans already," she says aloud to herself. She calls in her advisor, Dominicus.

Petra walked into her partner's, Sam's, room. "Hey," she said to Sam.

Sam's gaze moved to Petra and she simply nodded in greeting, not being one for much conversation.

Petra went and leaned against a wall. "Has Lazirus given us any orders yet?" she asked pulling out one of her many knives. She began flipping it around in her hand.

"Nope," she mumbled, looking down at the string in her fingers again. Lacing the string around her fingers, Sam let out a soft sigh and added, "Been waiting all day. Haven't heard a thing."

Petra sighed. "Dang, I was kind of hoping he would have something for us. We haven't had a mission in weeks and I'm starting to get restless." She tossed her knife up in the air, spinning, caught it on its way down, and threw it, hitting a small bug on the wall.

Petra noticed Sam's reaction, or lack there of. "Hey Sam," she started, "what's the matter? What's on your mind?"

"Oh come on Sam," Petra said, "it's gotta be something worth mentioning if its eating ya up this much. Come on, you can tell me anything."

"Uh huh," Petra said not quite believing Sam. She pulled out another knife and started playing with it.

Sam jerked on the edge of the string, unwrapping it from her fingers. She glanced at Petra through the corner of her eye and asked, "Why do you ask?"

Petra stopped playing with her knife for a second. "Well, because you are my closest friend and the only one who I truly trust. So if something is bothering you it worries me." She shrugged while saying this. She used her Mage powers to light her knife's blade on fire, and started playing with it again.

"You should worry more about yourself." Sam looked at the wall, concentrating and went back to her day dreaming.

Petra sighed and looked down. Sam had a good point, but she couldn't help it. She worried about Sam constantly. She didn't know why. She couldn't understand why. "That's easier said than done," she mumbled, this phrase only meant for herself.

Sam looked at Petra oddly, then shook her head and grabbed a long cord, unwrapping it and twisting the cord through her fingers now.

Petra, with her knife aflame, threw it towards Sam, hitting the wood of the headboard just to the left of her head. This was only meant to try to scare Sam.

Sam didn't flinch. She smirked and grabbed the knife, pulling it out from her headboard. "You'll have to try harder than that, Petra."

Sam took the flame off the knife and sat it down, not having much of a taste for the weapon. "Set my room on fire and I'll kill you," she joked, a small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.

Kendel walked down the hallways. He saw a open door to Sam and Petra. He just walked by. H had almost no one here to talk to.

"Of course you will," she said sarcastically. Petra picked up the knife and put it in its sheath. She sat down and looked at Sam. Sam's eyes caught her eye. They were a beautiful pale green. She hadn't ever noticed it before but they truly were beautiful to her.
