Re: Grassy plains.
Lunar's eyes widened. "You cheated on her! You just, gave up!?" Lunar growled at him. "You need to tell her," she added quickly, her eyes hard and distant as her tail flicked with irritation.
Re: Grassy plains.
Echo quickly lifted his head up with tears in his eyes yet again. "I did not CHEAT!!!" he yelled. "That was a very bad time for me and I thought I had lost Belle forever." He said this quietly. "I had found love again. She truly cared for me... and I had learned to care for her."
Re: Grassy plains.
Lunar paused, seeing the tears. She was bad at staying mad when there was crying involved. "You shouldn't have given up on getting her back."
Re: Grassy plains.
"It isn't like I wanted to you know," Echo said almost angrily. "You know, I thought I could tell you anything. That's what you said anyways." Echo was getting angrier. "Screw it. I shouldn't of even started telling you about her. I should've known." Echo stood up to walk away.
Re: Grassy plains.
Lunar frowned and said, "You can tell me anything. That doesn't mean that I'm going to agree with you on everything, though."
Re: Grassy plains.
Echo still wasn't happy about what Lunar said but he understood where she was coming from. He sighed to calm himself down. At once he was calm again, he sat down and began to talk, "Lunar, you have no idea what it was like being alone, thinking that your one true love was dead. I saw the look in my fathers eyes. He definitely wasn't going to just let her off the hook. He had those eyes, the eyes of a killer." Echo sighed again. "I just wanted to be able to tell someone this story without being judged. Yet, you wee already judging me before I even had the chance to finish." He paused to let this sink in.
Re: Grassy plains.
Lunar listened carefully, then nodded and looked down. "Fine. Then I'll just shut up and keep quiet." She looked down at her paws again, refusing to talk anymore.
Re: Grassy plains.
"I never said you had to shut up, Lunar. You can feel free to ask questions. I only ask that you don't judge me by my past actions," Echo said trying to reassure his friend. "If you feel so inclined to," he started to say in an obviously over exasperated tone, "I will allow you to make comments about what you think at the END of my story." He put on his puppy dog eyes. "Pwetty pwease don't be mad at me."
Re: Grassy plains.
Lunar glanced at Echo through the corner of her eye and couldn't help but smile. She slowly sat down and nodded, saying quietly, "I'm sorry for being so quick to judge about it. Can you continue, then?"
Re: Grassy plains.
Echo nodded his head, "Of course. Anyways, like I was saying before, we had decided to become mates." He paused. "I-I got her pregnant. She was due to have pups. We were so happy." His smile that he had before faded. " But then..." He started to tear up again.
Re: Grassy plains.
He regained himself and continued. "One day I was out hunting for us. While I was out our den was raided by a couple of unknown wolves. They beat her up pretty bad." Echo was having trouble with continuing. "She had several deep cuts and they... they had kicked her in the stomach several times. They were gone by the time I got back." This is where Echo totally lost it. He started breaking down. "Th-the pups were d-dead, and L-Lisa; she w-was hurt. I ha-had no idea wh-what to do." He took some time to recover. "She would have been fine under normal circumstances but... one of her cuts got infected. I had no idea what to do. All I could do was sit there and comfort her the best I could." Echo started breaking down again. "I-I had t-to sit there a-and watch h-her suffer." After this he couldn't take it any longer. Out of instinct he buried his face into Lunar's fur and wept.
Re: Grassy plains.
Lunar's eyes saddened and she licked his shoulder to try and comfort the crying wolf, not sure what to say. After a moment, she whispered, "I'm sorry..."
Re: Grassy plains.
He stayed there, weeping for his loss, until he felt he could continue. He slowly lifted his head up. "After about a week of that she died. That is the reason I want to become a healer. If that were to ever happen again, I would want to know what to do. I don't want to have to go through that again. I don't want to be as helpless as a pup trying to hunt. I want to be able to at least be able to take careof the ones I love."
Re: Grassy plains.
Lunar nodded with understanding. "That's the same reason I became Khora's apprentice..."
Re: Grassy plains.
He smiled at this. He frowned again though. "Ok, hit me. Throw whatever comments you want at me now. I give you permission to tell me what you think of me." Echo looked down at his feet again.
Re: Grassy plains.
Lunar thought about it, then said quietly, "I think it was wrong of you to give up on getting back with Belle. And for just leaving her behind... You could've gone back. You could've tries to save her. But from what I hear, you didn't even try. I understand why you tried to move on, I just think you moved on too soon..."
Re: Grassy plains.
"I can see what you're getting at but if I would have gone back I could have been killed on sight. Then what good would Belle's sacrafice have served?" he asked, genuinely curiou as to what she had to say.
Re: Grassy plains.
"If you had seen the expression on her face you would have done the same. I had only seen that expression on her face once before and when she gets it there is no stopping her." Echo said simply.
Re: Grassy plains.
"Thank you for listening to me Lunar. You really are a good friend." Echo now wore a smile.
Re: Grassy plains.
Lunar smiled, then said, "You need to tell Belle. The longer you wait, the worse it may get..."
Re: Grassy plains.
"I know. Right now I am mostly giving her time to cool down, ya know?" Echo said casually.
Re: Grassy plains.
Lunar smiled, "Yes, that may be smart." She glanced around at all the shadows that were being created from the setting sun and suddenly felt vulnerable. "Umm... I think I'm going to head back to the den..."
