Adonia nodded. "I'm alright, only a couple cuts and bruises." Mercury ran in a circle around the two.

Eyes kept running circles around Mercury and barking playfully as Speaking Rain finally stumbled over to him "Eyes... Don't run away like that again! Please. You worried me!" she scolded the dog and he whined leaving Mercury and licking her face

Mercury barked loudly and ran to eyes. He got in a playful bow.

Eyes bowed too and Speaking Rain let go of his leash and he bounded off again

Mercury chased after, bolting in a few seconds as a flash of brown fur. He barked wildly, and was filled with joy.

Speaking Rain laughed, not knowing if anyone was there who owned the dog at all, just knowing that Eyes For Her, another dog, and she herself were there. But guessing that someone who owned it was nearby "I think our dogs are becoming good friends..." she said "But you never know, even the person most beloved to you can betray you." she added a bit sadly remembering how the woman who had raised her said that she was only the midwife who had helped give birth to her and that her mother had abandoned her as an infant not wanting a blind child

Adonia looked over at her. "Yes... It is a sad truth." She commented. Mercury suddenly pounced on Eyes. "BARK BARK!"

Wind nodded and didnt say anything as Tatonka joined in with the older dogs and raced past them barking in a high pitched bark not yet deep for her age.

Adonia looked around, sighing deeply, she returned to her solitary mood. She looked at the others and nodded in welcome. But there was no emotion.

Wind walked over to Chyenne and untied the vine then jumped on and whistled for Tatonka who was to busy playing and then came and sat by the horse breathing hard "Nice to meet you Adonia." she spoke and took off to the village.

Adonia grimaced, waving, and stood there still. Mercury barked loudly, yipping with joy.

As she tried to hide herself behind some old desert bushes, Shikoba didn't notice the arrow-head on the ground under her feet. She made a quick move of her right foot, causing the arrowhead to stab straight up through her foot. The agonizing pain rushed through her whole body, making her feel on fire. Shikoba remained silent though, not wanting her mother to hear her. She sat down on the hot sand and pulled the arrow-head out from her foot then slowly removed her shoe, examining the deep hole in her foot. blood was pooring from the open wound as she tried hard to wrap it up. Shikoba tore a piece of her pant leg and tied it over the wound. The next thing she knew, she was pinned against a medium-sized boulder with a hand covering her mouth.
Payat looked around quietly, thinking he heard a voice. A small girl ran out from behind a tree yelling happily, "PAYAT! PAYAT!" He opened his arms for his little sister and hugged her tightly. "Where have you been?" he questioned the small girl.

Speaking rain smiled a bit then called for Eyes and put his leash back on, "Come on Eyes... We don't want to be late for dinner do we?" she said "Goodbye! As she said, nice meeting you." she waved in the totally wrong direction and walked off after Eyes For Her

Shikoba starred with surprise into two big black eyes that were starring right back at her. Then she recognized the face as a person let go of her. Shikoba looked surprised, "Rain?" A woman about 25 years old with long black hair, dark skin, and pitch black eyes looked worried, "I'm so sorry Miss Nampeyo. I did not mean to scare you. It was-" "It's alright. Just a simple mistake." Shikoba reassured the woman.
Payat looked at the little girl, waiting for an answer. She looked at him like he was crazy, "I've been with everyone else. Remember? We had to go and get those things for our neighbor?"

They arrived at the village and carefully, Eyes For Her guided Speaking Rain home for dinner. Avoiding mean people as best he could. But still people spat at Speaking Rain, and called her names as she passed but she ignored them, and hummed a song her "mother" had taught her not daring to sing thinking herself horrible and guessing that they would only make fun of her more

Rain looked at Shikoba's foot that was bleeding badly and said, "I can fix that up for you." Shikoba nodded, "Ok. Thank you."
Payat shook his head, trying to clear his mind then looked at the river.

Wind carried Tatonka like a dead deer. This was how they played and Chyenne would just watch.

Kai rode back up to his group of family, seeing that some of the people they had captured were gone. He felt a pang in his heart... Then remembering the little donkey in his arms he tethered his horse to a tree and walked among the slaves searching for Anaba's owner and finally came to a little girl "Is this your donkey?" he signed hoping she knew sign language Sialea-lea "ANABA!" Sia screamed happily and took the donkey "I think that's a yes..." he said to himself and scratched his head smiling Sia smiled and thanked him in sign, then he left. Kruk chittering on his shoulder, glad that the donkey was gone and he could Kai's attention once more.

Speaking Rain finally arrived home, and smelling food she grinned. "MOTHER!" she called "I'M HOME!" she let Eyes for Her loose, because she no longer needed him. Having memorized the tepee as best she could. She usually never bumped into anything, and mother helped her when she did have trouble. "Hello, Speaking Rain..." her mother said

Rain led the way into a small cave at the bottom of the mountain. "Thank you, Rain. I know your just a lookout. I wont tell anyone about you almost attacking me." Shikoba assured. Rain nodded, "Thank you Nampeyo. Everyone has been on edge lately because some people of the different tribes have been going missing. Something is happening and we aren't sure what."

Kai had been watching the girl and her donkey play together. He was glad the girl was happy now. At least he had done something good for someone. Why did his family have to choose such a stupid way to make a living?
