"Well I guess I should start off with a proper introduction," he replied. "I am Echo, son of Clara and Lyrius, alphas of the Hidden Forest Pack."

Lunar paused, taking in the sudden information. She didn't say anything, though, only waited for him to continue talking.

"My mother died when I was a mere 6 weeks old, so I didn't know her too well. But, I knew my father all to well." The hate and anger crept their way into his eyes, but not the sadness he showed earlier.

Lunar watched him cautiously, then asked, "What was he like?"

"He was terrible," Echo replied, "He was abusive. He beat me day in day out saying, "It's for your own good. It will make you stronger. It will make you perfect."" Echo sighed. "Do you remember when I said that my mother died when I was little?"

Lunar nodded and asked, "Did he kill her?"

He nodded his head. "He killed her in front of me. He seemed so nice to me up until then. He had just called me in from playing outside. He told me the day before he had a surprise for me, but it would have to wait till the next day. When he called me in he said it was my surprise. At once I was in he sat me in a corner and turned to my mother. I think she was as surprised as I was. He attacked her. She didn't have a chance. She was dead in under a minute." Tears started coming and he knew he couldn't stop them this time.

Lunar's eyes saddened as she watched him. What he was saying was reminding her of what had happened to her own parents. She nudged his shoulder gently with her nose and whispered, attempting to comfort him, "It's okay." She lowered her head some, watching Echo closely.

Echo attempted to laugh it off, "Getting all emotional already." It didn't work. He started again, "That wasn't the end of it either. That wasn't even the worst of it." He said this in an almost emotionless tone. A tone of true hurt.

Lunar watched him worriedly. "What else happened..?" she asked quietly.

He looked down. "On top of my daily beatings, he had also started my training. He wanted perfection in everything. If what I did didn't meet his standards, I would get a new "scar." He would scratch me deep enough for it to turn into a scar. This is the main reason I have my fur grow so long. It covers them up pretty well."

Lunar nodded, "Oh.. I'm sorry you had to go through that." Her tail curled over to one of her paws nervously.

"You have nothing to feel sorry for. It wasn't your fault he did that to me," He replied quickly. He sighed and continued, "About 3 months later, I found a place in our territory that was just like this one. No one else but me knew about it. I would slip away to go there everyday. I didn't get caught much but when I did really got it that night. Finally when I was 6 months old, I got to go and train with the other pups in the pack." this made him smile a bit.

Lunar smiled a bit when she saw him smile, and asked, "Did you make friends?"

He frowned again, " No, at least not on the first day. Everyone was either scared of me or just flat out hated me. It was all for the same reason too, my father." He smiled again. "That was until I met Belle. She could just about see through people. She cared for everyone and took no prejudice. She was also the most trustworthy wolf I had ever met. I new my life would be safe in her paws." He then stopped suddenly and just held back a sob.

Echo smiled at her, "You're getting ahead of me." He looked up towards the sky. "We became quick friends, inseparable almost. About a month after meeting her, I showed her that little area I loved so much. She loved it as well, just as I thought she would. We eventually found ourselves liking each other as more than just friends. On her one year birthday, I proposed, and, of course, she said yes. That was the happiest day of my life. It was also the scariest because my father had strictly forbid me from mate hood."

"That's awful for him to do that!" she said quickly, a little shocked.

"Yes he was but he was an awfull father in general," he replied while looking at her. "Anyways, we kept it a secret for about 4 months. However, my father decided to follow her to "our place" one day after noticing how close we had gotten. She was on her way to meet me. When she arrived I was extatic! It was our 4 month anniversary and we were ready to commit to each other.

(flashback)

"Hey Belle! It's so good to see you!" Echo said enthusiastically.

"Hey yourself." She walked up and nuzzled Echo.

"So," he said nervously, "are you ready?"

Echo's father stepped out of the trees. "Ready for what?"

Echo's blood ran cold. "F-father! What are you doing here?"

"I could ask you the same question but it seems that I don't have to." He sprung and tackled his son.

"Noooooooo!" Echo could hear Belle yell. Soon his father was off of him.

"You will pay for that you little bi-" he started but was cut off by Belle herself. "Echo run, NOW!"

"No! I can't leave you! I won't!" Echo yelled back.

Belle started to cry. "Please Echo, you have to, for me."

Echo stood stock still at this, but then regained his senses and darted off of his old pack's territory, not sure what would happen to his love.

(end flashback)

"... and that is what happens to me and Belle," Echo said gravely. "I don't know what happened to her or if she is even still alive." He started crying. "Oh God I miss her!" He stood and sobbed for a second but eventually regained his senses enough to continue. "I wandered around for about 2 weeks after that. Then I met you." At this he smiled.

Lunar smiled, letting her ears fall back as she blushed slightly, and said, "I think the pack welcomes you, sense no one has tried to send you away. Belle sounds like a good wolf, and I'm sure she's okay. I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you. I doubt that that's what she'd want..."

"There is one other thing..." Echo said uneasily. " I won't lie to you. I can't lie to you. I really like you Lunar. I don't want to, but I can't help it. You remind me so much of Belle. It may only be through personality but..." Echo started blushing hard. He didn't know why he was confessing this to her. "I still feel love for Belle, but I can't go back to her." He then remembered something, "I know we can't be together for you are with another. I just couldn't hold it in any longer though. I might have exploded. Lunar, I am so, so sorry to put you in this postion."

Lunar recoiled a bit from his words. She stood up and looked away, "Echo... Please don't."

"I understand if you don't want to talk to me, to be around me now. I would even understand if you hate me now," Echo started to cry. "I-I'm s-sorry..." He started to wak back in the direction of the den.
