Bast suddenly started laughing. He found this as a game. He stopped in his tracks and said some-what amused, "You're a feisty one. Get away from my forest and I'll let you go. I don't really have a taste for killing someone with attitude. There isn't enough of it these days."

(MORE EGGIES! XD not really :3 maybe I might think of having Duanne find one later and keep putting off eating it, though he doesn't know why... It's called love, he just won't acknowledge it. Smile

Yayulung FINALLY found an odd patch of dry land that had some eggplants on it... She ate gladly.

Leilani was a bit shocked but nodded. "It might take me some time." She indicated at her broken wing. The blue of her scales dimmed some, but there was enough to remind him what lay underneath. She swerved her head up some, the hostility now a cold glare. Oh how she hated acting as such. "If you tell me the quickest way out I'll be far from under your scales in no time." She said with a tense voice. Making sure he didn't change his mind or was trying to cleverly take her off guard she extended her claws deeper into the dirt.

Bast glared at the dragon for a moment then nodded slightly to the left. "Just go that way. You'll pass a river and if you go with the movement of the water, it'll take you straight out."

She nodded, not hesitating to leave. She didn't look back until he was a safe distance from her. She heard the rushing of water over the pelting rain down rocks. Leilani looked back at him, and then smiled in a friendly way. To far to be heard, she mouthed two words. "Thank you." And then disappeared into the darkness that was the trees, rain and river.

Leilani traveresed the swollen river as best as she could, legs paddling in strong strides to reach the mouth of it. But soon time passed, the river still went on, and her legs grew weary. Finally deciding she should be clear of the large dragon's turf she crawled out the water, droplets trickling down her flank and curled up in a cave nearby.

Bast turned away and headed toward his deep underground cave. He wasn't sure what Sce did with the hatchling, or where they were, but he didn't care at this point. He was too tired to care. Arriving at his cave, he crawled down inside and tucked his whole body together.

Yayulung looked up from her meal and thought she heard something splashing... She wondered what that was too... then when back to eating, not minding whatever it was much. (She's kinda like me... We find about a hundred mysteries a day or more! But we never really finish them or care. We briefly examine, then go back to whatever.)

Sce arrived at Bast's cave. "Here's the hatchling," she mumbled as the little dragon climbed out. "She has proven strong."

Bast looked at the hatchling. He wasn't sure exactly what they would do with it. He smiled at the young dragon and nudged it with his snout playfully. He had a soft spot for hatchlings.
Aken laid at the top of the volcano.

Yayulung finished eating, then went to sleep in a spot of sunshine near the rivebank on the edge of her territory.

Duanne attempted to worm his way back out of the owl's nest in the tree, but found himself stuck... He whined, and eventually managed to widen the hole so he could slip back out using shadows.

Bast lay his head on the dirt floor of the underground cave tiredly. Aken had been thinking of ways he could kill Bast. He wasnt even sure if he could bring himself to killing his friend. Maybe the dragon that the female mentioned was not Bast? After a while, he fell asleep.

Leilani awoke to the sounds of an angry snarl. She snapped her head up, growling in reply. It appeared she had taken someones home, the rain had washed away many scents. Especially the ones along the river. Her scales rattled to a deep blue, deeper then when Bast was there. Before her was a powerful black dragon. His muscles rippled with anger and power, a head cocked to blow what ever kind of breath he had at her. Probably fire, and Leilani didn't want to get singed. He charged her, and with there being no other option. The blue shone through her scales, and her eyes became dark. "This won't last long..." She darkly laughed...

Leilani stood now over the dragon, he was begging for mercy. Her fangs were placed in his throat, claws poised along his spine. He was bleeding, his wings were bent but still usable. "You want mercy?" She growled, a bit of silver returning. "Then you're to fly me all the way to the sea." She demanded, and he nodded best he could. Weak now, he struggled up and she stood still on his back. Interlocking her claws around his shoulders, the much larger black dragon was forced to fly her to her friend near the sea.

Aken awoke suddenly and looked around. Inside the volcano was boiling with magma. He can't let it erupt so he looked closely at the magma coming closer to the top and after a few moments, the magma cooled and hardened over the top.

The dragon dropped her off near the beach, where the white sand moved about the horizon until it faded into a pale crystal blue. A soft sound of waves gently brushing the coast granted her a sense of peace in her mind. The blue within her scales faded, and silver returned. "Good, now leave." She hissed at him, and then black dragon grunted and took flight. Leilani prowled the edge of the coast, and waited for her friend to arrive.

Leilani drew her breath short, and then froze over a little tide pool. She found it adoring to watch the small creatures' reaction to the frozen top layer.

Duanne growled at some persistent woodpecker parents, they kept HITTING HIM!!!!!!!!!!! His growl turned into a snarl of rage, and he pounced on them shredding them to pieces with his razor-sharp claws and spat at the dead bodies. He usually didn't go for parents... He didn't even want to try that hard, tough unedible meant... His teeth weren't meant for chewing... They were meant for crushing thee hardest of eggshells.

Eventually Leilani grew worried, having believe she was the late one. She unfroze the surface of the tidal pool, the creatures that resided there were rather happy for it. Walking as quickly as she could, Leilani covered the whole beach from the cliffs to the east, to the grassy plains to the west. No sign of her friend. She was certain this was their meeting place and so took wood from a section of trees not of the forest and set them up to burn. While she could not breathe fire, she picked up stones and smacked them together until sparks lit the wood aflame. With one wing broken, Leilani used her only wing to block the smoke, sending signals for her friend to fire her with.

Bast awoke suddenly. He looked outside through the exit of his underground cave and saw the sun would be rising once again soon. He couldn't allow himself to sleep for too long or there would be chance of intruders. He climbed out quickly. Occasionally, he would allow a dragon or two to stay in his territory for however long they wanted. But that was rare. They had to have the right attitude and had to be able to put up a good fight for him to even consider it. He arched his back, popping the bones in his spine, then stretched his wings out widely before taking to the sky to look around his forest more carefully.

Nothing...
She had spent the whole night searching...
No gleam of scales...
No cry of a friendly, familiar voice...
Nothing had come...
And some part of Leilani knew...
There never would be...

Moving from the shore, her broken wing dragging in the sand. Leilani realized she really only had one choice, return the way she came. And that way was through the mountains, up the river or through the forest. She would never make it in the mountains with a broken wing. And the river, going downstream sure. But up? No she wouldn't make it either. Her only real option was to cut through the forest, and that was just as hard and dangerous as the others. If she followed up the river, along its banks until it was mountain and river. Then she could make her final decision. So, with a drooping tail and lowered head, wing dragging. Leilani started home.

Bast saw a nice bull elk wandering alone in the forest so he quickly scooped it up, hearing the cry come from deep within it's throat. Bast stopped and landed in a small clearing in the middle of his forest. There were two rivers that met up into one here. Also, lots of grass and plants on the ground. He dropped the bull and started pushing it around, toying with it. After a few minutes of having his fun, he scooped it back up and bit off it's antlers, spit them out, then ate the bull.

Leilani reached the mouth of the river within a few hours. She was panting hard though, it was already a steep incline here and suddenly her head snapped up. "WHAT A FOOL I AM!" She hissed, remembering the black dragon from the day prior and how she had made him fly her to the sea in the first place. With her telepathy she reached out for the minds around. The cave he claimed his home should be around. But as she reached out to him, concentrating hard, she brushed a mind so dark and fearsome she nearly crumbled at its unexpected touch. Quickly she retreated, having found the dragon she wanted and called out to him. Hoping Bast had not felt her presence when she touched his mind.

Bast suddenly got an odd feeling but pushed it away. He returned to the sky, flying up high over all the old trees. He looked toward where the sun had come up.
Aken sighed with disappointment that he had nothing to do. No one to talk to, not much land to look over, simply nothing to do.

Duanne looked back up at the volcano. There would be plenty of fire creatures eggs up there... Maybe he could find some Fire Salamander nests... He shook his head to clear the thought... He had seen a dragon up there. All dragons were stronger and bigger than him except newly borns it seemed! CURSES!!! He turned back to his fresh meal of robin eggs. He needed to gain back all that energy he had lost while toying around with his shadows!

Yayulung awoke and decided to go on a little walk... Eating and sleeping was easy yes, but VERY boring! Except when she dreamed of home and adventures... That was fun. She made her old, crinkly dragon face smile and swam out of her underwater cavern, and when she reached the surface of the flooded valley and made two dragons out of water to accompany her... She had lied to herself, it wasn't going to be a walk, it would be a fly!
