As soon as he saw her eyes, it seemed like everything in him smashed together, then broke apart. "I won't leave you. I promise. I'm staying right here." He moved closer to her.

A small smile crossed her face for a moment, replaced by a surge of pain. I'd never been this painful. I don't know why... She said to him, the only way she found to communicate with Bast that didn't hurt... much. I think it's because I plummeted like that... Or what I saw... A glaze covered Leilani's eyes, and she nuzzled against Bast's body for comfort.

Bast nuzzle his cheek on hers and replied, "It's alright, Leilani. You're going to be just fine." He had so many questions, but didn't want to bother her with them. She was obviously in pain, and his main objective right now was to make her feel better.

She looked at the crystals with pain, trying to get over it, trying to be strong. She was failing terribly. She growled in pain, claws curling around a rock and a crack was heard from it as it busted open. Her fangs gritted, and she tossed on her side so that her head was perched right on his tail.

Bast felt worse now, seeing her in this pain. "Is there anything I can do to help?" For the first time in a long, long, long time, Bast felt helpless. He was always in control of situations. It felt awful to not have any clue if things were going to be alright.

She grimaced. I have no clue... Leilani admitted regrettably. The feeling of helplessness coming off Bast was strong, and she wanted to make him not feel as such. Then she had an idea that would help both of them. She gave him large eyes and said, Food?

"You... You want food?" Bast questioned. Then shook his head and replied, "Yes, I'll go get food. I'll be right back.."

Her tail uncurled itself from his foot so he could go. She was rather hungry to be honest, but she had no idea if she could keep the food down. She mostly just wanted Bast to feel better, because then she wouldn't worry about him and just get on with feeling better.

Bast reluctantly stepped away and left the den. He took to the sky and went to find some fresh food. Heading to a spot where he knew there was always some sort of food plentiful, he couldn't take his mind off of Leilani and if she was going to be alright.

Leilani curled herself into a ball, shuddering in pain. Sending Bast to get food had one more reason to. She didn't want him to see her in so much pain. Once she was sure he would be far enough not to hear her, she got to her feet and let out a pain-staked roar that shook the cave around her. Fatigue crossed her face, but she felt a little bit better.

Bast saw some bison and went down, scooping one up quickly. He crushed it in his claws then picked off a deer from a near by herd. He kept the deer alive though. Heading back to the den now, his thoughts were still stuck on if she was ok or not. Now he was regretting ever leaving the underground cave. What if she only sent him away so he wouldn't have to see her die? What if she was dead? What if something and went into the cave and attacked her? Why would Bast leave her there unlone and unprotected when she was hurt? He hurried back now, his thoughts just getting more and more worried.

Leilani could hear Bast's return. She ducked her head out of the den. "Bast!" She called out so he could see she was feeling a bit better.

Bast landed in front of the cave, relieved that she was still ok. "How are you feeling?" He asked as he sat the deer and bison down.

She crossed one leg over the other. "A bit better, but not much." Leilani admitted. "But I can find the strength to speak again." She pointed out, as her eyes settled on the bison, her hunger spiked. She tackled the dead creature, fangs tearing and gnashing. "Mmmmmmmm...." She crooned, bits of the fur stuck in her teeth.

Bast could help but laugh a little when she went after the dead Bison. "You must've been quite hungry."

There was only bones left, and they were cleaned like buzzards had picked at them for days. "Oh yeah. Thank you Bast." She leaned forwad and gave him a lick on the cheek.

Bast smiled as he sat down, "I'm glad you're doing better." His eyes danced with the hope of her being back to normal soon.

Leilani nodded, a twinkle in her eyes. She watched his hazel ones for a minute and then licked his cheek again. "Part of what makes me get better, is you caring for me." She whispered, her tone was playful, she was getting along fairly easy.

Bast's smile grew bigger and he licked her cheek. "I won't stop caring."

She purred lightly. "Then I'll get better in no time." Her eyes twinkled, and then a spasm of pain took her. She growled in pain and then looked away from him. Her breaths were ragged, but she eventually got some control again.

Bast moved over to her side and sat down, gently rubbing her back with his tail in an effort to comfort her. He hated seeing Leilani in pain like this, and was still pretty much clueless as to what he could do to help other than atempt to comfort her the best he could.

Leilani took some deep breaths, and slowly drifted off into a deep sleep. Her tail twitched as she slept.

Bast laid his head down slowly, so he wouldn't wake her up, and found himself drifting off to sleep as well.

There was a brief pause and then she curled against him, head nuzzling against his right shoulder. Leilani's sleeping was even and level, she should be fine by the next day if this kept up.

A few hours later, Bast opened his eyes quickly. He had thought he heard something moving. He lifted his head as he was about to get up, then noticed Leilani's head on his shoulder and he stopped moving. For a few moments, he just listened but there were no more sounds. Bast must have imagined the noise. He laid his head back down, just listening to the sound of Leilani breathing.
